Walk Local, Shop Local... 2020 Walking Lake Pepin theme.

Walking Lake Pepin (WLP) is happening in 2020 in spite of this year's Hwy 61 reconstruction and the challenges of the Covid 19 pandemic. 

It you have been out walking you must have noticed that the Lake City streets are filled with more walkers than ever before.  I have also seen more folks biking 
 in the past few weeks. 

Due to the need to stay at home and the shutting down of exercise facilities it is good to see people out being physically active (which is allowed) to maintain their physical health and manage their mental health.

Another goal of this year's event is to encourage support of our local businesses who have followed pandemic guidelines by either limiting their services or shutting their doors. We are hoping WLP participants will embrace this year's theme and support Lake City businesses by shopping local and participating in the WLP BINGO game.

Walking Lake Pepin's 10 week event will start May 31 and continue until August 8th. 
The event will be pretty similar to previous year's with registration, use of log sheets to record minutes of moderate physical activity and weekly group walks.  As mentioned above we have added a BINGO game (see sign up page for details) and will be following Minnesota Covid 19 guidelines.   

All residents are invited to participate in Walking Lake Pepin.  Registration is encouraged but if you don't you can still walk independently and participate in our weekly group walks.
