Twelve Walking Lake Pepin participants met out at Hok-si-la park last Thursday for a hike through the park, a campfire with S’mores and a tour of the new camping cabins by park manager, Joanne Klees. Three cabins have been built at the park this past year with the cooperative planning and funding of the Casey T. O’Neil Foundation and the City of Lake City. The cabins meet Americans with Disability Act specifications, sleep six, have heat and air conditioning and a fire ring for cooking outside. Joanne reported that they are rented for the summer most weekends, July 8 and 13 one cabin is open and the next availability is Aug 13. There are plenty of weekdays that the cabin is available for rent. Check with Joanne at the Hok-si-la Park office for details and all available dates.
