My husband, being the techie that he is, brought along his GPS so we could measure the distance. I found out that from the Skyline Restaurant to end of the Riverwalk at Roschen Park it is 2.3 miles, round trip of 4.6 miles. It took us about 90 minutes to walk it at an average speed of 3.2 mile per hour. I also found out that it was quite a hike and I was tired when we finished. I commend all of you (Frank I know for sure does this) who walk the entire length and back on a regular basis. It is a good workout.
The other thing that I enjoyed was the beautiful natural beauty that surrounds you as you walk along. The lake view and bluff vistas were so wonderful I paid little attention to traffic. It was fun to watch the buzz of activity near the marina and the fisherman and sailboats on the water. I even saw a family; mama, papa and baby mallards, out for a Sunday morning stroll on the water (check out the picture on our Facebook page.)
As I said I live about 3 miles from the stoplights on the north end of town so have spent little time on the Riverwalk. So I have made it my goal to walk the Riverwalk, all 3.75 miles once a week, over the next 10 weeks. I will keep you posted as to what I see along the way.
It's June 5th, start walking and counting those minutes of "Active Living 2011".
See you on the Riverwalk!!!
