WLP events this week.

Walking Lake Pepin/Active Living fitness challenge commenced  Sunda y June 9th and everyone who has signed up should begin counting there minutes toward their goal of physical activity.  

This week there will be a family biking event starting at 6:30 pm Thursday the 13th  at Underwood Park on 10th street.  There will be a 2.29 mile and 5.79 mile designated bike route that families can try.  The event will be cancelled and rescheduled if it is raining.

Also this week the Lake City pool  is open and for those of you who would like to try aquatic exercise there will be a week, June 10-14,  of free lap swimming and water aerobics exercise (16 years and older).

The Lap Swim schedule is Monday through Friday from noon to 1 PM and Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM. 

Water Aerobics is available for a free trial during the this week;  Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM and in the evening Monday through Thursday from 5:15 PM to 6:15 PM.

After this week to continue using the pool a Family Pass is ($100) or an Individual Pass is ($75) can be purchased.  If you want to lap swim or participate in the water aerobics on a session to session basis the cast is $5.00 per session without a pool pass.

You can still sign up to participate in this year’s event.  You can sign up at Treats and Treasures, Lake City Public Library, Anytime Fitness, Fiesta Foods or online at www.walkinglakepepin.com and check us out on Facebook.

When you sign up you are making a commitment to how many minutes of moderate physical activity you will do each week.   The goal is to do 150 minutes or more of moderate physical activity a week by doing any form of moderate physical activity for a minimum of 10 minute duration.

Get the log sheet, put it up where you see if every day and start keeping track of those minutes during the 10 weeks of the event, June 9 to August 17th.
